RAPID CITY, S.D. (04/11/2025) Rapid City Regional Airport set a new record for Q1 passenger enplanements in 2025, with 76,958 passengers boarding flights. This number exceeds the previous record of 70,763 set in 2024 and represents an increase of 8.8% from Q1 2024.
“Air travel is really taking off in western South Dakota, with record numbers showing just how much demand is growing in our region,” said Airport Executive Director Patrick Dame. “A big reason for the jump is the rise in mainline jet traffic. These bigger planes mean a more comfortable ride for passengers, but they also call for more space and bigger facilities at the airport. Looking ahead to the summer months, we’re excited to welcome back seasonal routes including Atlanta, Chicago, and Charlotte.”
Rapid City Regional Airport is the only full-service commercial airport for the Black Hills and contributes over $456 million in economic impact annually to South Dakota. Our vision is to provide world-class transportation services, enhancing economic growth.
